Histoire résumée | The development of a new wing with Lyle Maxey in 1952 and its use on a 215A fuselage, in process of assembly by Frank Kearns, resulted in the record holding "Jennie Mae". The fuselage was overly heavy with equipment resulting in high minimum speeds and consequent sinking speeds too great for weak conditions. The wing weight, at 230 pounds, was quite normaL The wing was coustructed to a surface tolerance of l/50th of an inch. Lvle Maxey estahlished a world goal and return record and won the 23rd U.S. National Soaring Contest with this ship.
The dissolution of partnership resulted in the wing going to Robert Brown and decoming a part of the "Rebel" sailplane. The Jennie Mae fuselage was destroyed in a stall spin accident in 1963, wearing a different wing. |
